West Virginia Students Say A Mine Free World IS Possible

PSALM--Proud Students Against Landmines/ Cluster Bombs and the West Virginia Campaign to Ban Landmines/Cluster Bombs began a month of activities and events to raise awareness about the 10th anniversary of the Mine Ban Treaty's entry into force and the need to ban cluster munitions. Students began with letters to President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Our events include awareness days at our school, an article in our city newspaper, presentations to community groups and a Legislative Day at our State Capital. Our hope is to educate people about the dangers of these weapons and prevent future casualties, as well as contribute to the universal signature of the treaty by all countries. We join others the world over in working to make a mine free and cluster bomb free world "Mission Possible"!

Students attached papers to the balloons that read, "A MINE FREE WORLD IS POSSIBLE!".
